Chernobyl: The New Evidence

Series Overview

Chernobyl: The New Evidence is a compelling documentary series that re-examines the 1986 nuclear catastrophe at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. Utilizing newly declassified documents, eyewitness testimonies, and advanced forensic analysis, the series challenges long-held narratives regarding the causes of the explosion and the subsequent cover-up by Soviet authorities. It delves into the technical failures of the RBMK reactor and the human errors that turned a routine safety test into a global tragedy. The series follows a team of investigators and historians as they piece together the timeline of the disaster, focusing on the heroic efforts of the liquidators and the political machinations that sought to minimize the scale of the fallout. By contrasting official Soviet reports with modern scientific findings, the documentary provides a chilling look at the systemic negligence that led to the evacuation of Pripyat and the long-term environmental and health consequences that persist to this day.
