Deep Rooted Tree

Overview

Set in early Joseon dynasty, 'Deep Rooted Tree' follows King Sejong the Great as he secretly works to create the Korean alphabet, Hangeul, to liberate the common people from the complex Chinese characters. However, his ambitious project faces fierce resistance from conservative scholars and a secret society known as Milbon (The Hidden Root), which seeks to protect the absolute power of the nobility. Amidst this high-stakes political and intellectual warfare, royal guard Kang Chae-yoon investigates a series of mysterious murders of palace scholars, driven by a deeply personal vendetta against the King whom he blames for his family's tragic death.
