Set in the run-down Doldam Hospital, 'Dr. Romantic' follows the life and work of Boo Yong-joo, a genius triple-board certified surgeon who once worked at the top industry hospital, Geosan University Hospital. After a traumatic incident, he disappears and changes his name to Kim Sa-bu (Master Kim), choosing to isolate himself and work at a humble provincial clinic. There, he mentors young, troubled doctors such as Kang Dong-joo, Yoon Seo-jung, Seo Woo-jin, and Cha Eun-jae, teaching them the true value of saving lives over power, wealth, and ambition. Throughout its multiple seasons, the series explores the intense, high-stakes environment of emergency medicine while tackling institutional corruption, medical ethics, and personal healing. Master Kim serves as a moral compass and unorthodox teacher, transforming talented but flawed physicians into compassionate healers capable of standing up against hospital boards and corrupt conglomerates.
