Haikyu!! follows the journey of Shoyo Hinata, a short but incredibly athletic middle schooler who becomes obsessed with volleyball after witnessing a national championship match on television. Despite his lack of height, he is determined to become a star player, inspired by the legendary 'Little Giant.' After a crushing defeat in his first and only middle school tournament at the hands of the 'King of the Court,' Tobio Kageyama, Hinata vows to surpass him upon entering Karasuno High School. Upon arriving at Karasuno, Hinata discovers that Kageyama has also enrolled there. The two former rivals must learn to set aside their differences and combine their unique talents—Hinata's explosive speed and Kageyama's pinpoint setting accuracy—to form a new, unstoppable quick-strike duo. Together with their teammates, they strive to restore Karasuno's reputation as a powerhouse school and compete at the national level, facing off against formidable rivals across Japan.
