Magic Knight Rayearth

Series Overview

Magic Knight Rayearth follows three eighth-grade girls—Hikaru Shidou, Umi Ryuuzaki, and Fuu Hououji—who are mysteriously transported from a field trip at Tokyo Tower to the magical world of Cephiro. Upon their arrival, they are greeted by Master Mage Clef, who informs them that they have been summoned by Princess Emeraude to become the legendary Magic Knights and save her kingdom from the encroaching darkness caused by the high priest Zagato. As the girls embark on their quest, they must awaken the dormant Rune Gods—magical mecha-like entities—and master their elemental powers of fire, water, and wind. The series blends the magical girl genre with mecha elements, exploring themes of duty, sacrifice, and the emotional bonds between the three protagonists as they navigate the complex political and spiritual landscape of Cephiro.
