Based on a true story essay by Kang Chang-rae, 'Recipe for Farewell' follows Chang-wook, a translator and humanities instructor whose life takes a poignant turn when his estranged wife, Da-jung, is diagnosed with terminal bowel cancer. Despite their impending divorce, Da-jung makes a special request: she asks Chang-wook to cook meals for her every day, even though he has virtually no culinary experience. As Chang-wook steps into the kitchen, the simple act of preparing warm, nourishing dishes transforms into a daily ritual of reconciliation, healing, and profound love. Through each recipe—from comforting porridges to delicate side dishes—the series explores the bittersweet complexities of family, mortality, and the ways food can bridge emotional distances when words fall short.
