The Crossing is a science fiction drama that follows a group of refugees from a war-torn country who seek asylum in a small American fishing town. The twist is that the war they are fleeing is 250 years in the future, and the refugees are actually Americans traveling back in time to escape an impending extinction event. As the town's sheriff, Jude Ellis, struggles to understand the impossible arrival of these people, he finds himself caught in a conspiracy involving the government and a mysterious organization known as Apex. As the season progresses, the series explores themes of displacement, morality, and the ethics of time travel. The refugees, led by Reece, a mother searching for her daughter, must navigate a world that is both familiar and alien to them, while the authorities attempt to contain the truth about their origins. The tension escalates as the lines between the present-day inhabitants and the future arrivals blur, leading to a race against time to prevent the catastrophic future from becoming a reality.
