Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru follows the daily lives of the 'Touken Danshi'—legendary Japanese swords that have been brought to life as warriors by a mysterious sage known as the Saniwa. Set in the Citadel, a sanctuary where these warriors reside when they are not deployed to protect history from the Time Retrograde Army, the series focuses on the lighthearted, domestic, and often humorous interactions between the various sword incarnations. Unlike more action-heavy adaptations of the franchise, Hanamaru emphasizes the camaraderie and personal growth of the characters as they adapt to their human forms. While they occasionally embark on missions to prevent historical alterations, the core of the narrative remains the heartwarming bonds formed between the swords, showcasing their individual personalities, hobbies, and the peaceful moments they cherish amidst their duty to protect the timeline.
